Bringing the Bedroom to the Kitchen

Bringing the Bedroom to the Kitchen

Here is how the conversation went:

Me:Honey, I found this bureau on CL.

Hby: Yeah?!

Me: Yup!

Hby: What do we need a bureau for?

Me: For the kitchen!

Hby: He replies are we moving the bed into the kitchen?

Me:Noooo, I'm gonna make it into an island for the kitchen.

Hby: Hey kids! We're gonna cook in our bedroom!

He just doesn't get it...SMH...No vision I tell him.

I found this beauty on Craigslits.

I saved $20 by negotiating. I stole it for $60 BUCKS!

OMG...It has keyholes...Iwish I had the keys...

Hmmm, Maybe if I paid the $20 I would have gotten the keys!
Before I sanded it

After I sanded it!

She's a beauty!

Now I need input I believe it is Walnut wood.

So, Should I stain or gloss it?

I will be putting all my baking dishes in the drawers.

Oven mits in 1 top drawer...dishtowels in the other...

Consignment Desk Makeover

I bought this desk at a local consignment shop. It was priced $45.

BUT.....it was 50% off furniture.
So it was $22.50......Wait the savings didn't stop there.
I had a 20% off coupon....
Yes, I used a coupon at the thrift shop! lol.
So this baby was mine for $17.00!!!!
She has good bones. I painted it black and for the top I used Chalk Board Paint.

First I scuffed it up with 150 grit sandpaper, wiped it down and primed it.

Not bad so far.

Then I used chalk board paint. Dries VERY quickly.

I need to add another coat of chalk board paint to the top.
And another coat of black paint to the drawers.
I will be putting clear glass knobs on the drawer.
I found a beautiful tall crystal/wood lamp. At the consignment shop....$15
I will be spray painting the wood black.
I have a hot pink velvet lamp shade I will embellish with jewels.
I have a black and white scrolly design drawer liners for the drawer.
Once it is finished I will post the final images.
This beauty will be an addition to my girls' room. They have wanted a desk for a while.
The grand total for redoing the desk will be $80. Can't beat it!

Our Christmas Decor

Took inexpensive poinsettia bunches and made them valance decorations.

MY FAVORITE LIL' EVERGREEN TREES
Found these amazing decorative trees at the local thrift shop....yes My Sister's Place
I bought 3 of them for a total of.....wait for it....
$13.00
1st one is about 5' 10", 2nd is about 3' 6" and the 3rd is about 2'.
I saw these at the local country decor store for outrageous amount of money.
They ranged from $35 for the smallest to $149 for the tallest.

Mini ornaments from Target with cute designs.

Chalet runner Target $11 on sale.
The ceramic glass balls on sale totaling $15.

Another My Sisters Place thrifty find....A Hallmark cookie jar....for a whopping $3

These mini ornaments are from Target hung on sewing thread.
A container of 18 for only $5!

Urn filled with cinnamon scented pinecones.
Mmmm...the scent of winter.

Danbury Train Museum

Boy Scout Trip To A Working Train Museum

Photography of Places I've Experienced

Good Ol' Baltimore, MD

This is down at the pier. They had entertainers.

This a fudge shop inside the mall.
They were amazing.
They sang as the made fudge.
It was awesome!!

This is on the pier of Cheapeake Bay

The Pirate came in. My daughter was so
afraid they were real.
We were in a resturant and we heard this loud bang.
It was 4 o'clock. Everyday they shoot a cannon at
the same time.
The baseball stadium.
Ahh, I wish I could say we were going onto this......
but sadly not.
Instead we had a 4 hour drive home.

This is a bridge from the highway that runs parallel

Leaving Baltimore.

Halfway home!

This is where we ended up the next weekend

This is all from NY heading to CT These ones are from my sunroof!
This is between 2 bridges that had an
apartment building ontop of each
one.

Hope you enjoyed a little bit of the East Coast!
